Easter Fun!

Easter is my favorite holidays! I know its kind of weird but I may not be the only one out there..trust me!

This year my kids are old enough to finally start an old tradition of us...

an egg fight! or as my girl put it "pinata eggs!" 

It's lots of fun and I am thinking would make this holiday a kid's favorite! 

 

A friend also put together a super cute Easter party for the kids, she did an egg hunt around her house and had the kids guessing where the next clue was.

Cutest Owl Party {Fiesta de Buhos}

 My friend just had the cutest owl party for her 2 years old baby girl. She is amazing she did the cake, the piñata the owls and all the table decorations (which I don’t have pictures off), the food...everything!  It was fun for the little ones (and grown-ups) …and everyone got to go home with the cutest owls!

 {Mi amiga acaba de tener la fiesta de búho más linda para su niña de 2 años. Ella hizo el pastel, la piñata las lechuzas (buhos) y todas las decoraciones de mesa (sorry, no fotos!) la comida...todo! She is incredible! Fue divertido para los más pequeños (y los adultos) ... y todo el mundo se fue a casa con los búhos más lindos!}

Happy Halloween 2012!!

We just finished hiding the rest of the candy and hopefully we are all done with what it felt like a two day candy-thon...

 This year we tried a new strategy (apparently supported by a friend of a friend who happens to be a dentist... Don’t you just love these things!)

 

We let the kids eat all you can eat (candy) for tonight and the rest we would:

 “throw it away” 

 

(but in reality we save it for “emergencies” and potty training motivations...yes we are great parents!)

 

Well apparently it’s less harming (for the teeth...of course) to eat all at once than one or two candies per day…

(and today for the first time I realized not having close nutritionist/doctors friends could be actually a good thing!) …bobbling again…

 

We were just celebrating “no cavities day” this week and believed me… I wasn’t going to risk it (and if you saw my kids at the dental office you would totally agree with me on this one!)   

 

Anyways that trick started to work after an hour…they started giving us their candy away or just open-tasting-don’t like it sort of thing… by the end of the night and after running around the house like racing cars, they willingly and humanly put the rest of the candy in a plastic bag, cleaned their teeth very well and went to bed… it is amazing how exhaustive sugar rush can be! 

 

And so I am happy to report all candy has been seized, and we had another happy Halloween full of blessings and good memories, hope yours were awesome too!

Best Mother's Day

I had the most wonderful mothers day ever! 

With all the celebration of motherhood and all the sweet things said about moms and God's gift...This holiday makes me want to be a mother of 8!!! 

Specially when you realize you are working for the most wonderful people in the entire world...

your kids!

Como buena mexicana celebramos el 10 de Mayo cenando fuera, luego el Sabado mi regalo fue concluido y por fin tengo una huerta lista para sembrar!

Mexican Party

Happy 5 de Mayo! 

 

We are throwing a party this year and for the years to come or so says the husband!

 It was kind of like a last minute thing just to have an excuse to hang out with old and new friends so I would just keep things "simple" ...unless my inner party planer come out with a better idea...I am guessing nachos and Jarritos would do and maybe some paper flowers, papel picado and Christmas lights for decorations. I mean I am Mexican what could possibly go wrong...right?

{Here are some ideas for a last minute Cinco de Mayo Party or Should I say How to throw a Mexican Party in 5 hrs?}

1. Dulce Serenata Spanish for Romantic diner for two: Go to your local Mexican store and get some Saint's candles and two mexican sodas, make a quick stop at the thrift store and see if you spy something colorful to use has a picnic blanket before you pick up some dinner and dessert from your fav mexican place. Create a new pandora station on your phone {something like Luis Miguel or Armando Manzanero} Meet under the stars and don't forget the matches!

2. Los 3+Amigos! Do you know of any Mexican bakery near by? {contact me if you are a local} You can also try your local mexican store. Mexican bread is soo delicious and super cheap that makes it the ideal treat to share with your 20+ best friends...make sure you buy some Chocolate Abuelita a mexican hot cocoa tablets with a very strong and delicious flavor. Have them over and watch an old Mexican movie together look for "cantinflas" or "el Santo y las momias de Guanajuato" on youtube...super funny!

3. Viva Pinata! Its kind of late to make your own pinata but if you go to a Mexican store they have lot of sizes and prices to choose from ( I hope), while there get some mexican candy to put inside. Make some tacos, brake the pinata and finished it up dancing to loud music, I am sure your kids will enjoy this. If you would like to make it more authentic ask for the game "Loteria" at the mexican store its pretty cheap and easy to play makes it ideal for little kids ...there is not Mexican who doesn't know what that is! Have Fun!

Our double Party! {Doble Fiesta}

A friend just send me these pictures that she took at our double Princess/Cars party couple of weeks ago, I couldn't resist to post them asap!

This is my second attempt to a double birthday party and since their birthdays are less than a week apart I may became really good a this game! For now abide with me :)

Decorations:

 I had 3 main tables, the one on the left had a princess theme and had all the sweets (candy,ice cream,cupcakes,etc) The one in the middle had the two cakes and the "Ombre" balloons in the back going from hues of pinks to reds. The table on the right had all the salty/main dish in a car's theme. There was one pink table for the girls and another one for the boys with black and white checkers tablecloth and 3 big round tables for the parents.

Activities:

"Mirror Mirror Hair and Makeup" A friend did hair and another one makeup,we also had crowns for all the princess in the room.

"Royal Nails and Spa" Two friends did nails and tattoos for the girls.

"Ramone's house of body art" a fancy name for face painting (boys and girls)

"Route 66 game" We took an old tire made some bean sacks and they try to throw them inside the tire from different angles. 

"Stop and Go" Pretty much freeze!

{Este fue mi segundo intento de una fiesta doble (combinada), y ya que sus cumpleanos solo son menos de una semana de diferencia estoy pensando que eventualmente me hare muy buena en esto... por ahora permanescan conmigo!

Decoraciones:

Puse 3 mesas principales la de en medio tenia los pasteles/tortas con los globos "ombre" con los tonos yendo de rosa a rojo y ginda. A la izquierda una mesa con el tema de princesas tenia todo los postres y dulces y a la derecha estaba la mesa de la merienda con un tema en carros. En el centro del salon pusimos 2 mesas cortas, una rosa para las princesas y otra en un mantel de cuadros blancos y negros para los varones. Alrededor pusimos 3 mesas grandes para los padres.

Actividades:

"Espejito Espejito Hair and Makeup" Una amiga peino y coloco coronas a as princesas y otra las maquillo.

"Royal Nails and Spa" Dos amigas pintaron unas y pusieron tatuajes de agua

"Ramone's Casa de Pintura"  Refiriendose al personaje de la pelicula de Cars, se pinto carros, mariposas,etc en la cara.

"Ruta 66" Con una llanta/neumatico y unos sacos/costalitos rellenos de semillas jugamos a ver quien ensestaba dentro de la llanta/neumatico.

"El Semaforo" Rojo:paraban Verde:Corrian}

 I never thought my heart was capable of feeling this huge amount of joy and responsibility at the same time.  The more you grow, the bigger my heart gets. You make me a happy mom and a better human. I look forward to seeing you fulfill your dreams.... and be there first row!
