Happy Halloween 2012!!

We just finished hiding the rest of the candy and hopefully we are all done with what it felt like a two day candy-thon...

 This year we tried a new strategy (apparently supported by a friend of a friend who happens to be a dentist... Don’t you just love these things!)

 

We let the kids eat all you can eat (candy) for tonight and the rest we would:

 “throw it away” 

 

(but in reality we save it for “emergencies” and potty training motivations...yes we are great parents!)

 

Well apparently it’s less harming (for the teeth...of course) to eat all at once than one or two candies per day…

(and today for the first time I realized not having close nutritionist/doctors friends could be actually a good thing!) …bobbling again…

 

We were just celebrating “no cavities day” this week and believed me… I wasn’t going to risk it (and if you saw my kids at the dental office you would totally agree with me on this one!)   

 

Anyways that trick started to work after an hour…they started giving us their candy away or just open-tasting-don’t like it sort of thing… by the end of the night and after running around the house like racing cars, they willingly and humanly put the rest of the candy in a plastic bag, cleaned their teeth very well and went to bed… it is amazing how exhaustive sugar rush can be! 

 

And so I am happy to report all candy has been seized, and we had another happy Halloween full of blessings and good memories, hope yours were awesome too!

Trick or Treat {Dulce o Travesura}

Today the kids and I are going trick or treating around the neighborhood for the first time! I think I am more excited than the kids... for the first time in years I actually have a good excuse to do it..yay! (I am hiding all the chocolate!)

Hoy vamos a buscar dulce o travesura en el vecindario... sera la primera vez para los ninos! Creo que estoy más emocionado yo que los ellos ... por primera vez en años tengo una buena excusa para hacerlo .. yay! (Estoy escondiendo todo el chocolate para mi!)

Have you picked yours yet? Picking pumpkins is in our must do list for this week, part because the kids are asking for one, but mainly because I want to paint my first metallic pumpkin... yup! Sorry kids only fancy pumpkins this year..ha! Forget jack o lantern!

Front Porch Halloween Decoration [Halloween Ideas para Decorar tu Entrada/Puerta]

It is Halloween month ...Yay! 

And since my grandma doesn't read my Blog I can openly admit that it is one of my top 4 favorite Holidays (Christmas, Dia de Muertos and my birthday are the other 3

... yes I am aware birthdays aren't considered holidays ..but mine is). 

I am from the North part of Mexico and even though we celebrate Halloween (except for grandma!) it is not that big of a deal like here in the U.S. 

I think my favorite thing besides dressing up is the decorations!! I find myself walking/driving around the neighborhood just to see how creative people get with their house decorations ...would that be consider creepy? ... I do it during Christmas time too...ba ha!

Entramos en el mes de Halloween ... ¡Sí!  

Y puesto que mi abuela no lee mi blog, puedo decir abiertamente que este es uno de mis cuatro días festivos favoritos (Navidad, Día de Muertos y el día de mi cumpleaños son los otros tres.

Soy del norte de México y aun cuando si celebramos Halloween con excepción de mi abuela!) No es tan comun ver decoraciones de Halloween en las casas a diferencia de aqui.
 Me gusta mucho ver que tan creativa es la gente con la decoracion de su entrada/porche ... a veces me paseo solo para ver las casas de otras personas ...es eso raro? ... (espero que no por que tambien lo hago durante la época de Navidad! jiji)
